Facebook.

Destinee is a facebook junkie.
She's my best friend...
But, it's true.
You wanna know what she's doing that day?
Check her status. (:

And on June 24, 2010 her facebook read:

Destinee: tomorrow i need to...
eat a scone. blow bubbles out of my car window. and make lemonade from lemons. yay for days off

And of course, 31 facebook comments later Destinee has decided she must eat a scone, as if her very life depended on it and my sister has decided one's first venture into the land of scones and tea must be homemade. So, somehow I ended up baking scones ( that I was alergic too! ) at ten o'clock at night in my sister's kitchen. On a Thursday.

I dont even like tea.

But all in all, it was fun. I wasn't very helpful. Infact, this adventure was basically all on Destinee and my sister. My only contribution was eating microwaveable soup and pouting on a stool in the kitchen. But what are friends for. =P

And for the record, Destinee is now in love with rasberry scones. And Bavarian Berry tea. And I was in good enough spirits to fake eat some genuine homemade gluten.

All in all a good day.
But that's been my experience with cooking so far.
I dont know why people complain about it so much.
I plan on keeping this cooking thing up.
Only one problem...
Dest better come with me to college.
Because I just cant cook without her! <3

The longest noodle in the world was 503 feet long.

June 13, 2010.
Spaghetti!
Possibly one of my favorite foods.
And definately my favorite thing I've ever cooked.

Destinee and I made homemade spaghetti and meatballs.
There was a recipe involved, but we hardly followed it.
Destinee is crazy about garlic salt.
But she didn't want to put too many eggs in?
I had to use gluten free bread crumbs.
And we completally forget a couple ingredients.
We added a dash of this, a pinch of that.
A little too much of some, not enough of another.
and they were delicious!
Like, no joke.
I must have eaten seven meatballs.

Lessons learned:
1. When you are feeding ten people who are all except for two atleast partially Italian you should know way better than to only buy two cans of spaghetti sauce.
2. Spaghetti sauce and tomato sauce are not the same thing.
What can I say, we're learning. (:
3. Destinee should not take things out of the oven.
4. April, Destinee's sister, should not be allowed to help cook. Ex; people will notice if you use 2 cups of oil in brownies, not 1/2 cup.
5. If you tempt Destinee's step dad with homemade spaghetti he will let you in the firehouse after visiting hours.
6. And when deprived of homecooked meals my sister will eat five meatballs and three servings of spahetti in under twenty minutes.
7. So far, Destinee and I are much better at this cooking thing than previously thought.

Baked Chicken.

June 6th, 2010.

And who would have thought it would all begin with baked chicken?
When I was younger, I hated chicken.
My mom would cook it all the time.
And I threw a fit about eating it, all the time.

But Destinee and I decided to cook baked chicken.
"Decided" is probably not the appropriate word.
It sounds like we were excited about it, or were in the mood for baked chicken goodness.
Wrong.
I just wanted Destinee to stop whining.
And she just wanted her mom to cook her dinner.

Instead, we got some recipe off of google and went to work.
Who would have thought lemon juice, sour cream, bread crumbs and soy sauce would be so delicious?

Sidenote: I do not know if this chicken was actually delicious. I have ciliac disease, which is a intolerance to wheat, rye, and barley. Hence, eating sucks and unless me and Destinee get a hang on this cooking thing, I am going to starve in college. No Top Ramen for this kid!

I'm the blonde on the right, and she's the pretty little brunette to the left. And that delicious chicken bake recipe can be found on the third search result when you google "chicken" (:

Cooking...

It's one of those things you learn from your mother.
From large, colorful cookbooks.
From "secret" family recipes.
Wrong.
We just google it. :)

Destinee and I are learning to cook together.
All by ourselves, with no help except the World Wide Web.
Baked Chicken, Spaghetti and Homemade Meatballs, Casserole,
Au Gratin Potatos, Brownies and Fresh Lemonade.
We're gunna figure it all out, together.
Every Sunday, you'll find us in the kitchen.
And hopefully, every Monday you'll find me here writing it all down.
